DESCRIPTION:Round 3 of the 2018/19 North Wales Cyclo-cross League: Moss Valley Country Park\, LL11 6HA (sponsored by The Bike Factory\, Chester)\n\n\nRound 3 – Moss Valley Country Park\, Wrexham\nSunday 28 October 2018\n\nWrexham Roads Club invites NWCX League to race at Moss Valley County Park.\n\nKnown locally as “The Moss” or “The Aggey” this concealed park is located midway between the communities of Gwersyllt & Brynteg\, three miles north of Wrexham.  For a century  until the 1920s closure of the Westminster Mine   this area was dominated by coal extraction and sandstone quarrying.   It accommodated two generations of railway lines  and connecting tunnels all long demolished. The earliest line was constructed in the 1860s.  A later branch line\, now dismantled\, ran parallel. The area was a mass of spoil\, derelict  mining equipment and  tramlines for 50 years until\, in the early 1970s\, major landscaping was undertaken.    Moss Valley has since been reclaimed by nature and is nowadays an oasis of green and a wildlife habitat.\n\nMoss Valley is vee-sided  with wooded sides\, two small lakes and extensive open grassland featuring gentle (and not so gentle) undulation. The course can be fast and furious  on the downhills and rather slower slower on the uphills.  Expect to get airborne over some of the mounds.\n\nImportant: Parking will be a combination of  Moss Valley Golf Club LL11 6HA   and  Moss Valley Car Park located at the bottom of the hill on Poolmouth Road.   Signs will direct cars from the Golf Club to the main parking zone.\n\nParents: the approach roads feature "CYCLE EVENT" signs to warn motorists. Nevertheless please ensure your children cross the road from the Golf Club to the Race HQ with care. \n\nMoss Valley Golf Club will serve teas\, coffees and  bacon baps\n\nWCs are located within the Golf Club. Please treat facilities  with respect.\n\nTimings:\n10:00 -11:30 Registration. There will be no registration after 1130.\n\n11:00 Novice Children -( 10mins ) £2 (entry on the day)\n\n11.20 Race#1:U8s\, U10s\, U12s   ( 20mins ) £3 Nifty Online Only\n\n12:00  Race#2:  U14s\, U16s\,  ( 30mins )  £5 Nifty Online Only    + Adult beginners £5 (entry on the day)\n\n13.15 Race #3: Senior race (M/F\, Vets\, U18s)   60mins   U18: £8 Nifty Online Only\,    All Seniors  £14 Nifty Online Only\n\n(Vets will be classified V40\, V50\,  V60+ subject to participant numbers )\n\nWarning: The first races of the year are busy.  If you have not already collected your race number at Rounds #1  or #2 please arrive early to collect your race number.\n\nCompetitors retain numbers. This stays with you for all season so keep it safe between races. Replacement numbers will be charged at £3 per set and cause major inconvenience with timing chip allocations. Please look after your race numbers all season.\n\nNewcomers regardless of age\, gender or ability are welcome. You can race on a cyclocross bike or a mountain bike.  Parents:  children enjoy cyclocross. If unsure don't be afraid to ask. We make it easy for children\, especially newcomers.\n\nAdult newcomers are welcome. Beginners  are invited to try the Novice Adult race.  This starts alongside the U14s/16s  and provides a graduated introduction.  Beginners can enter on the day.\n\nCompetitors must hand back their race chips at the finish enclosure.
