Round 1 of the 2023/24 North Wales Cyclo-cross League: Brymbo Sports & Social Complex, College Hill, Brymbo, Wrexham LL11 5TF

Fibrax Wrexham Roads Club welcomes competitors to  Brymbo Sports & Social Complex. 

The Complex previously served the famous Brymbo Steel Works, under the United Engineering Steel Group. When the furnaces fell silent ain 1990, Brymbo Sports & Social Complex Ltd succeeded as the new owner.  It now operates as a member’s club renowned for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere hosting many sports and  formal events all year round.

Brymbo CX course  makes full use of the outstanding grounds and topography.   We are the guests of Gareth Lloyd, General Manager,  and Groundsmen Anthony Beck and Paul Morris who maintain the Complex.

Sign-on will take place in the car park area.

Please ensure access for squash club members.

Male & female WCs are located in the complex.  Please treat facilities with respect.

09:00 -11:30 Registration. There will be no registration after 1130.

11:00 Novice Children -( 10mins ) £2 (entry on the day)

11.20 Race#1:U8s, U10s, U12s   ( 20mins ) £4(£3+£1 admin fee) Nifty Online Only

12:00  Race#2:  U14s, U16s, 30mins )  £6 (£5+£1 admin fee)  Nifty Online Only         + Adult Novice ( beginners) £10 cash (enter on the day)

12:45 Senior & Junior practice & warm-up  (25min)

13.15 Race #3: Senior race (M/F, Vets, U18s)   60mins   U18 £6 (£5+£1 admin fee)  Nifty Online Only,   All Seniors  £15 (£14 + £1 admin fee) Nifty Online Only

NWCX welcomes ALL riders regardless of age, gender or ability.  We expect respect and good manners at all times.   You can race on a cyclocross, gravel or mountain bike. You can try the beginners race for 30mins.

Parents:  children are made very welcome at cyclocross races. If unsure  don’t be afraid to ask at HQ. The North Wales series prioritises racing for children with most beginners making rapid progress.

Single frameset rule: to limit costs and entry barriers NWCX operates a single frameset rule. You must use the bike you start with. No spare bikes permitted once race underway.

Knobbly tyres rule: cyclocross takes place on grass, mud and gravel surfaces. It is essential for competitor safety that competitors fit knobbly tyres. Riders with smooth tyres will be asked to discontinue. This applies equally to children.

Competitors retain race numbers. Numbers are issued to competitors at their first registration.  Riders are instructed to retain and re-use their  number all season to simplify registration. Please keep your number safe between races. Replacement numbers will be charged  £5 per set.

Return of timing chips. Competitors  hand back their race chips at the finish. Each chip cost NWCX £38+vat.  You will be billed if you fail to return your chip immediately post-race.
